Veteran's Affairs

Mike is committed to those men and woman that have served our country. As the son of a World War II veteran, he personally understands their deeply rooted commitment, patriotism, and their needs when coming home.

His ongoing work on their behalf has earned him a 100 percent pro-veterans voting rating – a measure he is very proud of.  Mike voted for legislation to provide the largest funding increase in history for veterans – increasing compensation for veterans and support for a new G.I. bill that provides full four year scholarships to returning vets from Iraq and Afghanistan.

He supported the Caregivers and Veterans Omnibus Health Services Act of 2010 to provide assistance to caregivers of veterans and improves their healthcare, particularly in areas of PTSD and other trauma related issues.

He also supported the Retired Pay Restoration Act to permit veterans with less than 50% disability to receive both their VA disability and their earned military pay.

He joined a bipartisan majority in 2009, voting for a number of wide-ranging legislative initiatives aimed at assisting homeless veterans, providing cost-of-living adjustments to disabled veterans and ensuring all veterans have proper access to emergency care.  He voted to reauthorize the Veterans Reintegration Program through 2014.

Mike voted yes on the crucial Women’s Health Care Improvement act, a measure which seeks to expand and improve VA health services for women veterans. And in the district, he secured over $1 million for upgrades to the Donald J. Mitchell Department of Veterans Affairs Outpatient Clinic in Rome, NY. The funding will be used to modernize and revamp the outpatient clinic and to replace and improve air handling units.

Mike Arcuri believes America owes a debt to it’s veterans that cannot be repaid, but we will be committed to doing all we can.
